Who attends folk schools?

Folk schools are open to students 18 years and older, but the majority of students are young adults, between 18 and 25 years old. Typically, folk school students are looking for a nontraditional educational experience at a place where they will be both enlightened and inspired. Many are exploring other educational or career options, or looking for an enriching gap year experience, or even seeking a change of pace for a year or a semester between studies at their college or university.
